Shearing is the cutting action along a straight line to separate metal by using hardened blades. In strict technical terms, the process of “shearing” involves the use of straight cutting blades of sheet metal or plates. Shearing-type operations include: blanking, piercing, roll slitting, and trimming.

Laser Precision utilizes a guillotine shear to do straight blanking operations on materials up to 1/8 inch in thickness. These blanks are often processed on secondary machines to add additional features into the material. Laser Precision can Shear materials up to 10 feet wide.
